Pongal Festival: A Celebration of Harvest and Gratitude

Pongal is a vibrant Tamil harvest festival, marking gratitude to the Sun God for a bountiful harvest. Observed over four days in mid-January, it signifies prosperity, renewal, and togetherness. Families prepare a special dish called Pongal, made from newly harvested rice, milk, and jaggery, allowing it to boil over as a symbol of abundance. Traditional festivities include kolam (rangoli) decorations, cattle worship, folk dances, and community gatherings. Pongal is a time of joy, thanksgiving, and renewal, strengthening bonds between people and nature. This event has helped women to connect back to their cultural roots and bring back their beautiful memories.
